Mixed Media
Containment and Freedom: In and outside the box
Why make art?
I have painted oils on canvas, created mixed media tapestries, made miniatures on wood and huge murals for almost 40 years. But why? With these pieces, I've found the answer this time, in this place, as the exploration of color, which I find so nourishing, and the confines of shape - almost all square - that make each piece a unique expression.
With Extravaganza, I reopened the possibility of discovering patterns and textures that burst enthusiastically off the canvas.
Another answer to the question “Why?” Because joy. Because freedom in limitation. Because art is not the end but the beginning of communication, both shared and intensely private. Just because.
